Difficult To Know Heart"s Problem - Bernard Don Bortey.

Former Hearts of Oak kingpin, Bernard Don Bortey has said that it is a difficult to pin-point exactly the cause of the club’s decline.

Accra Hearts of Oak has not won a major silverware in the last seven seasons and are only paraded in the country as a big club.

The current administration led by Togbe Afede XIV has hugely been criticized by old directors and fans of the club for their managerial style insisting they are responsible for the decline of the club.

But Don Bortey who was the darling boys of the club in the late 1990s and early 2000s as they won the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup, does not want to be dragged into the happenings in the club.

“Hearts are going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment, it’s difficult to put your finger on what the problems are,” Bortey, who is now a free agent told Adom FM.

“When teams aren’t getting results, it’s usually a collection of things. The players are young, the squad is strong and I think it’ll be turned around with the fans solidly behind them.

Don Bortey also believes Hearts of Oak can won the Ghana Premier league if fans throw their weight behind the team.

“They can be champions if the supporters can throw their support behind them like they did for us when we were playing the club,” he added.

Hearts will play New Edubiase United in the opening day of the 2016 Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium on February 20.
