Medeama SC head coach, Tom Strands has called on the stakeholders of Football in Ghana to help improve upon infrastructure and the structures if Ghana wants to meet up with the elite in football across the world.
The Swedish manager was addressing the media after he led his side to win the first trophy on hand when Medeama defeated league champions, Ashgold in the Super clash by a lone goal at the Accra Sports stadium.
Medeama SC known to play their tactical style of football under the Swedish coach laboured to display the game that wowed many fans of the club and the neutrals who witnessed the 2014/15 MTN FA cup final against Kotoko.
Tom Strands who signed from Bechem United after 2014 season believed Ghana can only match up to the rest of the world in terms of football only if they put the infrastructures and structures right.
He said, “It was difficult to play as the quality of football displayed from both – Medeama SC and Ashgold was below premier league quality. The pitch was ‘bomby’ and it was difficult to control the ball and when I sit behind my television and watch some of the league games, the play of football is much faster and smoother than we witness here.”
“If Ghana dreams of becoming a beautiful style of playing football then the infrastructure pitch) will have to meet the international standard and quality”, he added.
