Feature: GN Bank Division One League- What to Expect

The Start of the Ghana Premier League last weekend was welcomed by Ghanaians amidst pump and pageantry and the standard of play did not disappoint either, as football fans and pundits have praised the levels of performances exhibited by all sixteen participating clubs.

Match centers recorded massive turn-out despite all the problems that surrounded the league’s kick off.

But to think that every Ghanaian had a feel of the football action last weekend will be a grievous mistake especially as not all the ten regions in Ghana have clubs representing in the country’s top flight football competition.

Two Regions out of the ten [Northern and Upper East] have no teams at all playing in the Ghana Premier League while two more regions [Volta and Eastern] only have teams that adopted them as home venues [WAFA and Dreams FC respectively].

However, if there is any National football league in Ghana that has a fair representation of clubs; it is Ghana’s second tier competition- the GN Bank National Division One League.
