Police Officer Samuel Sarfo Appointed New Liberty Captain

Ahead of the start of the New Ghana Premier League Season this weekend, Dansoman based side Liberty Professionals have appointed Centre Back Samuel Sarfo as the club’s captain, replacing the departed Alfred Nelson.

Sarfo, a corporal in the Ghana Police Service is one of the senior members of the Scientific Soccer lads having been with the club for the past five seasons following his move from lower tier side Cantonment FC.

The 25-year old is expected to play a key role in Liberty’s 2015/16 Premier Campaign after the exits of former captain Alfred Nelson and central defensive partner Edwin Tuffour Frimpong.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with SportsCrusader.com after his appointment, Samuel Sarfo expressed desire to continue from where his predecessor left off.

“I want to continue the good work the former captain [Alfred Nelson] did with the help of the coaches and the playing body”, adding that, “I will also make sure we [the Players] adhere to the team’s rules and regulations”.

Liberty Professionals will travel to the Brong-Ahafo Region to face Bechem United in their first game of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League, Sarfo’s first as skipper of the side.
