Laryea Kingston Predicts 2-0 Win For Hearts In Super Clash

Former Ghana International Laryea Kingston has backed Accra Hearts of Oak to record a win over their arch rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Monday’s Super Clash between the two.

The two Ghanaian giants will go head-to-head for the first time this season in the last of the

Ghana Premier League Match-Day 10 encounters at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra.

And Laryea has backed his former club to collect the three points at stake in this encounter as they chase a first league win over the Porcupines in Accra in six years.

“I think Hearts of Oak will carry the day and I am also positive that they will win by 2-0 in

front of the Accra fans,” he told Tema based Obunu FM.

“So far this season, Hearts has shown the better form as compared to Kotoko, and I am positive that it will come to play in Monday’s game for all to see,” he added.

“Games between both sides has known no form guide in the past, but, this time around, I can see that happening and that is why I am backing the Phobians to carry the day,” he stated.

He said the game will be a tough one though as Kotoko will come in very determined not to lose, but, after 90 minutes, Hearts should be able to make their home advantage count and press on for the win.

Hearts will be seeking their sixth win of the season in Monday’s game, and, victory will take them top of the standing after leaders Wa All Stars lost at Tarkwa to Medeama SC on Sunday.

The biggest game of the first round of this season’s Ghana Premier League (GPL) is set for Monday, 2 May at the Accra Sports Stadium where Premier Club, Accra Hearts of Oak will host their arch rivals on the domestic scene Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

This is one of eight games that would be played this weekend as the GPL enters Match-Day 10 across all league centers nationwide.

Results after these round of games could see changes in positions on the league log as teams continue to battle for honours.

Hearts would fancy their chances of winning this game after making an impressive start to this campaign which has seen them sit just two points off the leaders Wa All Stars.

They have won five of the nine games they have played in the league so far with only one defeat. Hearts has scored 13 goals and conceded eight in their nine games.

Kotoko have had a tough start to the season, winning just three of their nine games with four defeats. They have scored seven goals and conceded nine with confidence in their squad low at the moment.

In would be interesting how they respond to this game after losing their last encounter at home to New Edubiase United.

Tarkwa: Medeama SC vs Wa All StarsLeaders Wa All Stars will trek to the T&A Park at Tarkwa to face the might of Medeama SC in another tough game to look up to.

All Stars have surprised all with their form this season, but, could be brought down to earth as the visit the Western region for the first time this season.

Fourth placed Berekum Chelsea will travel to the Ashanti region to play New Edubiase United at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi.

United are on a high after their win over Kotoko in Kumasi in their last game, and, will seek to make life difficult for the Berekum side.

Bechem: Bechem United vs WAFABechem United who are 11th will return to their home base to welcome the West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) in a game they will hope to win after losing their last game. WAFA are fifth on the table and will look to register their first away win of the campaign.

Tema: Inter Allies vs Techiman City

Techiman City are sixth on the table, and, they will trek to the harbour city to play the might of Inter Allies at the Tema Sports Stadium.

Allies have lost their last three games and will seek to make amends against the league debutants who are still in search of their first ever away win in the Ghanaian top-flight league.

Dawu: Dreams FC vs Sekondi Hasaacas

Seventh placed Dreams FC will welcome Sekondi Hasaacas to the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ Park at Dawu where they will hope for a good result after losing their last two games.

Hasaacas have lost all their four away games and have the league’s worst defensive record, having let in 18 goals in the nine games they have played.

Cape Coast: Ebusua Dwarfs vs AshantiGold SC

Bottom club Ebusua Dwarfs will host defending champions AshantiGold SC at the Robert Mensah Park at Cape Coast where they will look for their third win of the campaign.

Accra Hearts of Oak has today submitted 36,000 match day tickets to the National Sports Authority (NSA) for verification as the club readies to begin sales for their match week 10 clash against fiercest rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Midfielder Sabahn Laryea is suspended from Accra Hearts of Oak’s next Ghana Premier League (GPL) game on Sunday after picking up a third yellow card of the season.

The combative enforcer will sit out the visit to the Nana Ameyaw Park in Techiman, where the Phobians will confront local side Techiman City in a Match-Day Seven GPL encounter.

Laryea received his third yellow card of the season in the 1-3 loss to Wa All Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday as Hearts lost their unbeaten start to the campaign.

The player has featured in all of the club’s GPL games this season, playing a pivotal role as the Phobians went unbeaten in their opening five games of the season.

He has been very influential in the side as his partnership with Mustapha Essuman in the heart of the midfield being one of the best in the league this season.

“I am sorry I have to miss Sunday’s game at Techiman, as I was looking forward to this encounter,” Laryea told the club’s official newspaper, the Hearts News.

“However, I have faith and believe in the quality we have in the squad, and, trust that they will return to Accra with a positive result,” he said.

The game with Techiman City will be Hearts’ fourth away game of the season with the Phobians having beaten Medeama SC and Inter Allies and drawing with Ebusua Dwarfs in previous encounters.

Ghanaian defender Nana Akwasi Asare saw his hopes of lifting the Belgian league title dashed after a thrilling 1-0 defeat to Club Brugge in the top of the table clash.

The Gent centre back lost for the second time in four days to same opposition after their second leg semi final defeat to the second place side.

Encroachers Clash With School Authorities Of OKESS

Authorities of Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School are helpless as their efforts to rid the school’s land of encroachers have yielded no results.

There have been repeated clashes between officials and land developers despite state intervention.

Attempts by authorities to stop some encroachers from undertaking illegal construction saw the Headmaster, Samuel Agyepong; end up at the police station Monday morning.

Located in the Old Tafo suburb of Kumasi, the Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School has no fence wall.

The absence of the fence wall means campus is exposed to all manner of trespassers, some of whom live in houses authorities claim had been illegally built on school land.

Safety and security of students and staff are seriously compromised with reported cases of occasional attacks by unidentified people.

A visit to the school revealed private structures; some very close to the school’s administrative block are being erected.

Officials say a demolition exercise carried years ago put the brakes on encroachers for sometime but they have resurfaced at full swing.

Headmaster, Samuel Agyepong, indicates illegal developers have defied a court injunction imposed five years ago to stop such construction on the school land.

He says attempts to erect a fence wall to secure the school and its land have been restrained by a pending suit filed by alleged encroachers since 2011.

Mr. Agyepong’s determination to stop the persistent encroachment brought him face to face with some developers Monday morning, a situation which saw him end up at the police station.

“With a section of my staff members [we] went to the construction site stop the workers from building on the school land and before I knew they had gone to lodge a complaint at Bremang Police Station that I was interfering in their private activity. A CID from Bremang came with his handcuff to arrest me but the Tafo-Pankrono Divisional Police also arrived at the scene to arrest the workers because of an earlier report I had made against the encroachers”. Frustrated Mr. Agyapong explained.

According to Mr. Agyepong, he was made to write his statement as the court injunctions were read-but the encroachers would still not understand.

But some encroachers believe they are legally occupying the land as they claim to have documents to prove their ownership of the land.

Mr. Agyepong mentioned repeated attacks on him and students of the school by some of the encroachers.

Nevertheless, the frustrated headmaster who proceeds on retirement four days into next year is determined to secure the school’s land from encroachers.

He will petition city authorities, through the Ashanti Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service on the issue he describes as very worrying.
