Juventus Set To Sign Brazilian Starlet

Promising Brazilian starlet, 18-year-old attacking midfielder Matheus Pereira, who is one of the most talented youngsters from Corinthians’ youth system, is already in Italy and is expected to sign a contract later this week with Juventus.

The player was already in the sights of the Italian team since the beginning of the year. There was an attempt to sign him after the end of this year’s Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, but they were not successful.

Corinthians own just 5% of the economic rights of Matheus Pereira, with the rest being divided among his agent Fernando Garcia [40%] and other investors.

Matheus Pereira, who has made just three appearances for Corinthians’ senior team, was one of the highlights during the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, but was criticized for missing a decisive penalty in the final of the competition.

According to Globo Esporte, the transfer would cost the Turin side approximately €2.5 million, but neither Corinthians nor Juventus have confirmed the negotiation values.

Edinson Cavani scored a hat-trick as champions Paris St-Germain set a new record points total in Ligue 1 after an easy win against Ajaccio in Corsica.

Laurent Blanc’s runaway leaders moved on to 92 points with two games of the 38-match season remaining.

Uruguay forward Cavani, 29, broke the deadlock with a perfectly placed header before his clinical finish made it 2-0.

Barcelona Set To Sign Young Brazil Defender

Barcelona wants to sign a new defender from Brazilian football and would’ve already identified their target.

According to the information from Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola on Rádio Bradesco Esportes FM, the player wanted by Barcelona is Fluminense defender Marlon who has been on the radar of the Catalan team’s for quite a while, and can move to the Camp Nou.

As mentioned by the journalist, the representative of Barcelona in Brazil, André Cury, would have met with president Peter Siemsen at Fluminense’s training centre to enquire about the transfer values of the defender to move to the Spanish team.

The idea of the representative would be to pass on the information received from Fluminense to the Catalans.

On the other hand, Barcelona would have competition from other European teams in their pursuit of Marlon this summer.

Italian sides AS Roma and Juventus have also made inquiries for the Fluminense player’s situation, but an official proposal is yet to be made.

Last year, Barcelona reportedly reached an agreement for a first-option on Marlon, Kenedy and Gérson.

Kenedy is currently at Premier League side Chelsea, while Gérson was sold to AS Roma.

French giants Olympique Marseille and German powerhouse Borussia Dortmund have set up a domestic cup final date with Paris St-Germain and Bayern Munich respectively.

Marseille edged past Sochaux 1-0 in their French Cup semi-final game on Wednesday to set up a final against Ligue 1 champions Paris St-Germain.

Borussia Dortmund advanced to the final of the German Cup against Bayern Munich also on Wednesday after their impressive 3-0 triumph over Hertha Berlin.

Marseille who are currently struggling in 15th place in the French league, just six points above the relegation zone, will face PSG in the final on Saturday, 21 May.

PSG can complete a league and cup double for a second consecutive season with victory over their main French rivals.

The German Cup final will take place on Saturday, 21 May at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium between the two biggest clubs in the country, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

The Golden State Warriors have made NBA history with a record 73 wins in a season by beating Memphis Grizzlies.

The 125-104 win in Oakland means the defending champions surpassed the previous record of 72 set by Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls in 1995-96.

Steph Curry also became the first to net more than 400 three-pointers in a season, taking his tally to 402.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who played for the 1996 Bulls team, said: “I never thought anyone would break it.”
