Nana Asare Suffers Belgian League Title Setback In Top Of Table Clash

Ghanaian defender Nana Akwasi Asare saw his hopes of lifting the Belgian league title dashed after a thrilling 1-0 defeat to Club Brugge in the top of the table clash.

The Gent centre back lost for the second time in four days to same opposition after their second leg semi final defeat to the second place side.

Asare lasted the full 90 minutes but was powerless to prevent Gent from levelling their point tally at the top of the Belgian top flight.

Gent headed into the fixture hoping for a revenge on the second leg semi final defeat that cost them a place in the Belgian Cup but ended the night with another slim 1-0 defeat.

Loir Rafealov’s spot kick on the hour mark proved to be the match winner and cancelled out Gent lead at the top of the log with just five matches to end the season.

Nana Asare was booked for a late tackle with 16 minutes to end proceedings in the top of the table clash.

Club Brugge is now level on points with Gent on 52 points after a run of five successive wins as against Gent three wins in the last five.
