Lions Coach Fokuo Cautiously Optimistic On Premiership Return

Ben Fokuo said it is too early to talk about a return to the top-flight league for his Heart of Lions side after guiding them to victory in their first match of the GN Bank National Division One League (DOL) on Saturday.

The Kpando based club earned a hard fought 1-0 away victory over Danbort FC at the Nungua Town Park to get their campaign off to a good start after being relegated from the elite division at the end of last season.

Coach Fokuo told Sportscrusader.com after the game that he was happy with the result and hope to build on this as they are competing in a zone the is considered to be the toughest of the three.

“We came here looking for the three points and thankfully, we have gotten it,” he said, adding that, “we hope it serves as a confident booster for the rest of the season”.

In answer to the question whether they will make a quick return to the premiership, he said; “It is too early to talk about qualification as there are 29 more matches to be played in a very tough zone”.

He however sounded optimistic that they could make it all things being equal insisting though that they will take the games as they come hoping to maximize as many points as possible to gain that entry.
