Ghanaian Legend Honoured With Messi Comparison

It is rare to find a 59-year-old with an African Cup of Nations winning medal, Ghana Premier League title and a distinguished international career flattered by comparisons with a 28-year-old playing at the top of his career with many individual awards to his name.

Mohamed ‘Polo’ Ahmed, who earned himself a cult status at Hearts of Oak, after several years of exceptional performances for the club has been compared by a section of the media to Barcelona’s nimble footed midfielder, Lionel Messi.

Polo in an interview with Sportscrusader.com mentioned that, he’s honoured to be compared to the quintuplets Federation International Football Association (FIFA) Ballon d’or winner, Lionel Messi.

He said, the Argentine’s magic on the field of play according to him reminds him of his glorious days and nothing else.

He said, “It’s surprising how after so many years I am being compared to the little Argentine and Barcelona, legend in the making – Lionel Messi.”

“I am happy being compared to Messi, someone who has won the FIFA best player on five occasions, it is such a great honour, but I was such a good player on the ball [better] than even Lionel Messi,” ‘Polo’. “I could do many things with the ball that he cannot do now,” he added.
