GPL Preview: Wa All Stars Heads To Tarkwa Sunday

Ghana Premier League (GPL) pacesetters Wa All Stars heads to Tarkwa for their Match-Day 10 blockbuster with Medeama SC on Sunday.

The fearsome league leaders warmed up for the long trip over the weekend with a hugely impressive 2-0 win over Inter Allies in their last GPL encounter.

Their hosts however have been plunged by managerial frailties after Tom Strand missed their hard earned 1-0 win over Herbert Addo’s Inter Allies in their outstanding clash in midweek.

The Mauves and Yellows have so far failed to replicate their continental form on the domestic scene with five defeats in the opening nine league games.

Assisted by former Wa All Stars trainer Amadu Nurudeen ‘Kyenkyehene’, Tom Strand however look destined to return to the dugout when the leaders arrive in town.

Enos Adepa’s well oiled machine missed the services of Issahaku Konda over the weekend but his able replacement in Mumuni Wahidu sent shivers down the spines of Inter Allies with his commanding display at the back.

The leaders are further boosted by the ruthless nature of Richard Arthur who came off the bench to open the scoring with a glancing header in Wa last Sunday.

A man-of-the-match performance from Ismail Ganiu in their last game, could spell doom for the Mauves as the Wa based side make that 770 kilometer journey to Tarkwa.

The home side can however draw inspiration from their midfield trio in Eric Kwakwa, Kwesi Donsu and Malik Akowuah at the middle of the pitch. The trio have added dead wizardry to their game aside their telepathic passing rhythm for Medeama SC.

With five matches played between them at Tarkwa, Wa All Stars have one win and two draws with Medeama SC picking up two wins. The leaders have however failed to score in their last three visits to the Tarkwa Park in league action.
