Hearts vs Kotoko Player Profile: Isaac "Messi" Mensah

Isaac ‘Messi’ Mensah is a Ghanaian footballer who plays in the Ghana Premier League for Accra Hearts of Oak as an attacking midfielder.

Mensah was born on 13 December 1995 and has got a dangerous, skillful and nimble left foot to that of his mentor and FC Barcelona’s great and five time FIFA Ballon d’or winner, Lionel Messi, hence his nickname ‘Messi’.

The 5ft 4 Inches creative midfielder joined Hearts in the summer of the 2012/13 Premier League season and his talent and gift to decide a game with the ball at his feet was evident at a young age when he was adjudged the best player at an under-12 inter-districts tournament held in 2005 at Tema.

The 20-year old talented midfielder has shone this season in all the nine league games played and his performance justifies why Hearts held onto him after a reported bid from South African giants, Kaizer Chiefs for his signature prior to the commencement of the 2015/16 season.

Mensah has been a delight to watch in midfield for the Phobians with stellar performances and two goals to his name thus far but it is his assists along with his swift run at goal and ease to beat a marker that has got opposing teams worried and coming up against fierce rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Monday, ‘Messi’ will love to add up to his price tag of emerging as the best creative midfielder in the GPL.
