I Turned Down The Chance To Play For Togo- Baba Armando

Former Black Stars midfielder, Baba Adamu Armando has revealed that, he turned down the chance to play for Togo earlier on in his career due to the love he has for Ghana.

According to him, he was approached by the Togo Football Federation to naturalize for them when he was plying his trade in the West African Country but he didn’t give in.

Speaking in an interview, the controversial forward noted that his action was purely based on the love he had for Ghana and his confident that he will one day play for the Black Stars, an objective Armando has achieved.

The former Swedru All Blacks playmaker was part of the Black Stars squad for the African Cup of Nations in Egypt in 2006 where he scored the only goal for Ghana in the 2-1 loss to Zimbabwe in the Group Stages.

Following that tournament, Armando was excluded from Ghana’s squad to the FIFA World Cup in Germany later that year, which didn’t go down well with him.
