Liberty Professionals trainer George Lamptey has disclosed that Sunday’s 5-1 win against Ashgold was a ‘special’ game for his side.
According to him, the entire technical team and playing body knew the game was special, because they have not beaten the Miners in the past four seasons.
A brace from youngster Latif Blessing and a goal each from Edward Ebo Mends, Simon Zibo and Bernard Arthur ensured that the Scientific Soccer lads recorded a first victory in four years against Ashgold.
And after the game, trainer George Lamptey revealed that the match was given special attention.
“We knew the game was a must win for us”, he said,
“We have not beaten them in the past four years. They always beat us or get a draw so the match was a special one for us” George Lamptey added.
The coach was however to quick to admit that the 5-1 score line was a surprise one.
“I knew we were going to beat Ashgold, but not 5-1. At least I knew were going to beat them by at most 3 goals. So the 5-1 was a surprise for me” George Lamptey continued.
Liberty Professionals, by virtue of the victory have moved to the fourth position on the league log with 10 points after six games.
The Dansoman based side will next travel to face Asante Kotoko on match day seven of the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League season.
