The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has called on Ghanaians to report any Police personnel who act in disregard of the Service’s code of ethics.
The IGP, Mr. John Kudalor said this in a statement read on his behalf by the Director General in charge of Services, COP James Oppong-Boanuh at a Stakeholders Meeting and Get Together for Mobile Phone and Accessories Dealers Association (MPADA) held at the main auditorium of the Ghana Trade Fair Authority, Accra last Saturday.
He said that it was wrong for Police personnel to harass anybody adding that victims of such brutalities or harassment should gather the courage and report such officers.
While calling on members of the public to have a relatively good knowledge of the location of Police stations in their respective residential areas, the IGP urged them to also go the extra mile to know the names and phone numbers of the personnel in charge of such stations and districts.
He said modern policing involves team effort hence it is crucial for the police and the public to relate and collaborate favourably to curb crime.
The Chairman of MPADA, Alfred Korlie Matey who is also the CEO of Freddie’s Corner, reiterated the need for government to apply the investment laws of the country saying that it was the responsibility of government to protect and create an enabling environment for local businesses.
He said multinational engagements in the country especially their operation of retail outlets is fast pushing them out of business.
The Minister of Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah said MPADA contributes monumentally to the economic growth of the country aside creating employment for many people.
The Chairman of the Event, George Ofori said the high tax rates coupled with inflation and the current power outages are suffocating businesses.
