Al Hilal Compensated Me - Abeiku Ainooson

Asante Kotoko defender Abeiku Ainooson has revealed that he was given compensation  after his season long loan deal with Al Hilal was terminated.

The former New Edubiase United versatile defender joined the Blue Waves until end of the season and had a perfect start to life in Sudan, winning three MVP awards.

Despite his perfect start in the local league, he was released by the club after they failed to qualify to the next round of the of the CAF Champions League.

“After our exit from the CAF Champions League, Al Hilal gave us two days break. I was at my house when I got a call from the office to come, so I went there and met some colleagues from other countries,” Ainooson told West Gold Radio in Takoradi.

“When it was my turn, the club’s top officials told me their decision – that I should go back to my parent club (Kotoko). Because we were unable to qualify to the group stages of the Lhampions League, they had to release us to ease off the financial burden because the Sudanese league do not have a sponsor.

“They said they can’t keep me because they lack the resources to fund the club for only domestic competition with high wages.

“I told my agent and I accepted to leave but they compensated me,” he added.

Ainooson played nine league games and won five MVP awards. He will return to Kotoko in the coming days.
