Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis why having Jose Mourinho in the dressing room can be a difficult one as he demands more and more from his players.
Luis was part of the Atletico Madrid contingent of Thibaut Courtois and Diego Costa that arrived at chelsea in 2014, but the left back couldn’t prolong his stay at the club.
Luis revealed that he was not surprised by the fate of the 53-year-old at west London as he demanded too much from every individual in the squad which could be taxing for many in the long run.
Speaking to FourFourTwo, the full-back said: “Speaking about Mourinho is always controversial and there’s always some intrigue surrounding him. But he is an awesome coach who tries to take the maximum from each and every one of his players.”
Luis insists despite not featuring in the first-team for much of the 2014-15 term, he holds no grudges towards Mourinho but instead hails the tactical genius of the Portuguese.
“In my case, we got along very well and he helped me when I wanted to rejoin Atletico. He’s a very good coach.”
“It’s just a pity I wasn’t able to convince him that I should start for Chelsea.”
