"Stop Stealing The Limelight From Players & Coaches"-Saani Daara Tells Club

Chief Executive Officers and football club administrators in Ghana have been called upon to stop ‘stealing’ the limelight from their players and coaches.

Players and coaches play a pivotal role in the promotion of the game and are the subject that the footballing public wants to see and talk about and not the managers.

In Europe and the world over club’s put forward the key players and coaches at the fore-front and they make the headlines while promoting and drawing the eye balls and listenership to the game.

However in Ghana, the situation is the opposite as CEO’s and club administrators jump to the media to grant interviews and talk tactics ahead of game and even afterward.

Speaking at the media and marketing seminar for Premier and Division One League clubs on Monday, the deputy general secretary in charge of communication at the GFA Ibrahim Sannie Daara, said for the great future of football in the country, this practice must be stopped.

This action of the CEO’s and administrators has played a role in the dying nature of the game and time has come for them to do away with this negative behavior.

“The fans are dying to see and hear from their stars and not you the CEO’s and administrators, so stop promoting yourselves and leave the stage for the stars.”

He tasked the club’s to pick good public relations officers who are well vested in the trade to help project the image of the clubs and its players.

“The PRO’s must teach the players and coaches how to talk and conduct themselves in public, what to talk about and what not to talk about among others to project the good image of the club.”

According to him when this is done it would eradicate the incessant media attacks on CEO’s and club administrators which turn to demoralize them and makes them feel unappreciated.
