Asante Kotoko head coach David Duncan insist he won’t resign from post despite a poor start to his career at the club.
David Duncan is yet to win a game in his first full season as head of the Porcupine Warriors’ technical team, drawing two and losing two in the 2016/16 Ghana Premier League.
Pressure is mounting on the former Great Olympics coach to turn the fortunes of the club around, but he insist winning matches is collective responsibility and he won’t relinquish his position.
“We need to sit around and find where we need to pick the pieces from and remedy the situation going forward.
“I have a department i work on, but it isn’t only about the technical department, we all have to put our shoulder to the wheel, this not what we expected.” Duncan said in his post match press.
David Duncan says Kotoko’s stuttering start to life in the GPL despite bamboozling opponents in the off-season is not the worst in the history of the country, and he reckon they will turn things around.
“I have seen teams that have come out of this recently Man City in England in their last 5 games lost 3 straight matches but bounced back stronger.
“I have never resigned from any job before. Unless you’re telling me that this is Kotoko’s worst start to any premier league season, this should not be a situation the club hasn’t been in before.
“May be checking into the history of the club, will tell you that this is not new, if it is and am the first person then you can fault me but if am not the first person then we can still change things.
“In all my coaching career this is the first time i have lost by a big margin against Chelsea; when i come here mostly it ends as a drawn game.” he said.
Kotoko is languishing 14th on the league table after 4 league matches.
Next up for the record premier league champions in the domestic top flight is a game against Sekondi Hasaacas at the Baba Yara sports stadium on Friday.
