Asamoah Gyan Happy With Chinese League Progress

Shanghai SIPG’s Ghanaian international, Asamoah Gyan has stated that, he feels vindicated for his move to China after the massive signings made by Chinese Super League clubs during the transfer window.

Brazilian pair of Ramires and Alex Texeira as well as forwards Jackson Martinez Jackson and Gervinho, formally of Athletico Madrid and AS Roma respectively have all moved to the Chinese league from major European leagues.

Majority of Ghanaians registered their displeasure with Gyan, the captain of the Black Stars when he left Europe for Al-Ain in the UEA and subsequently China but the former Udinese and Sunderland striker says he feels his move has brought some exposure to the league in China.

“I said it before that I might bring exposure to that league, I went to the UAE, it was the same, lots of talks and criticisms when I moved there,” he told Joy FM in Accra.

“But as I always say the top leagues started from somewhere and that is the same way the Chinese league is always picking up.

“Lots of players are coming in and I think next year it will be more and that we should expect more surprises next year but I believe the league in China is really getting better.” He added.

Asamoah Gyan was named in Ghana’s squad for the AFCON 2017 Qualifier double header with Mozambique but missed both games after picking up an injury in training.
