Players Bribe To Join Black Stars - Kojo Poku

Former Asante Kotoko talisman, Kojo Poku claims some officials of the Ghana Football Association are induced by players to play for the national team, the Black Stars.

Kojo Poku, affectionately called ‘Mahala’ during his playing days at the Porcupine Warriors, Kumasi Asante Kotoko alleged that before a player is called into the Black Stars, the said player has to pay bribe to some officials of the Ghana FA.

“I think the fortunes of the Black Stars are dwindling and it’s because players have to pay bribes to officials to gain entry into the national team,” Poku told Accra based Happy FM.

“Even though I’m no longer part of the team, most of the players are my friends and I speak with them. Isn’t it surprising that a player like Enoch Adu Kofi is playing regularly and featuring in the Champions League consistently in Europe but is not getting a look in at the Black Stars?” he quizzed.

He also alleged that some players pay the school fees of the children of some FA members just to play for the Black Stars.

“I’m even aware that some players used to pay the school fees of some GFA officials so as to get a call-up to the national team,” Poku who is now retired, added.
