"I Promise Ghanaians At least Two Slots In Rio" - Weightlifting President

President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF), Ben Nunoo Mensah is very confident ahead of the upcoming Olympic qualifiers next month in Yaounde, Cameroon.


Ghana will be represented by seven athletes as and three officials who will be looking forward to securing a ticket to the upcoming Olympic games in Rio in September.


In an interview with sportscrusader.com, Mr Mensah said “we are taking very good and capable athletes to Cameroon, and i want to promise Ghanaians that at least two of our athletes will definitely qualify for the games”.







Mr Mensah further named  the two likely to make it to Rio as Christopher Osei who is a professional athlete based in the United Kingdom as well as young talent Christian Amoah who is the 49th ranked athlete in the world and is really showing glimpses of a future champion.


“The athlete are already in camp preparing for the qualifiers and we hope that all the necessary logistical support would be provided us to ensure a smooth participation at the qualifiers,” he added.
