First-half goals from Ricardo Rodriguez, from the spot, and Max Arnold gave the hosts a well-deserved victory and blew this tie wide open.
Rodriguez’s penalty, resulting from a clumsy Casemiro chance, and Arnold’s deft finish were enough for Wolfsburg, who could have had a third if Andre Schurrle hadn’t blazed over a terrific second-half chance.
