It"s Too Early For League Title Talk - Hearts

Accra Hearts of Oak assistant manager, Yaw ‘Rush’ Preko has diffused talk of the club been made favourite to win the Ghana premier league title after the high-flying start to the 2015/16 season.

The 20-times Ghana premier league champions has started the league on a good note after recording back-to-back victories over Medeama SC and New Edubiase – sides that have dominated the Phobians in seasons past and the display exhibited by the Hearts team is what has got many talking.

Yaw Preko, former player of the club and now an assistant coach has revealed the technical team is not surprised with the impressive start but called for calm as the team continues to develop game after game under the tutelage of the then much criticised head coach, Kenichi Yatshuashi.

Speaking to the press after Hearts win over Medeama SC in match week 2 of the 2015/16 Ghana premier league season, Yaw Preko said, “the training routine the players have been put through vindicates us (technical team) but it is early days yet and won’t get ahead of ourselves and claim the team is a finished product now.”

The ex-Black Stars attacking midfielder added, “we only wanted the season to start and as we know the league has it is own surprises and after what we experienced last season we are on our guard to ensure our flying start to the season isn’t just a fluke.”

Hearts travel to Cape Coast to play Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs in match week 3 as the quest to reclaim the lost Phobian glory goes on.
