Jeff Schlup Relieved After Norwich Scalp

Ghanaian defender Jeff Sclupp has expressed his excitement after making a winning return to the Foxes set up for the first time in almost two months.

The English born Ghana international returned to Claudio Ranieri’s table topping side in a slim 1-0 win over Norwich to consolidate their place at the top of the log.

The 22 year old full back however admitted to the nervy ending of the game at home to their Canaries before a late strike from Leonardo Ullua kept the points at the king power Stadium.

Schlupp returned to league actions for the first time since early December after a lengthy injury lay off to play a crucial role in the build up to his Argentine teammate’s only strike.

The utility full back commended his teammates for their persistence and winning mentality all season as depicted in the slim win over Norwich.

“Respect to them (Norwich City) because they are scrapping down there just like we did last season and we know what it feels like to be in that position.

“We believed in ourselves. We knew it was a matter of time and when Leo put that in, It was like a relief because we would have been going at them the whole game.

“I think everyone saw how down we were after that tough result against Arsenal, conceding late when it means so much for us. We just wanted those points.” Schlupp told LCFC official website.

He also heaped kind words on his defenders for their solid defence at the back all season.

“The back four lads have been very terrific all season and Daniel Amartey also had a good game.

“When you have got good guys like that at the back giving you the assurance. It gives the guys to surge forward”. He noted.

Schlupp has been a regular fixture for Cladio Ranieri’s Premiership leaders until his injury set back in early December.
