Forner Ghana Black Stars captain, John Mensah has joined Swedish second tier side Athletic FC United on a one year deal.
John Mensah, 33, completed his move on Friday on free transfer after almost two years without a club, having left FC Nitra in 2014.
The ‘Rock of Gilbrator’ as he was affectionately called during his hey days with journey to Sweden, is his 11th club since his career began with MBC Accra in 1999.
He has since moved to 10 different clubs, predominantly in Italy.
John Mensah was a member of the Black Stars squad that played its debut World Cup in Germany 2006, and he captained the team to win bronze in the 2008 Africa Cup of nations which was held in Ghana.
He led the senior national team to achieve its highest ever feat in the successive World Cup appearance in South Africa 2010.
