The Confederation of Africa Football has chosen Moroccan referee, Bouchaib El Ahrach to handle Ghana’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations home qualifier against Mozambique this month.
Bouchaib Ahrach, 44, is highly rated by the CAF referee selection committee, having successfully handled World Cup qualifiers and CAF Champions League competition including the final Al Ahly won in 2012.
Mr. Bouchaib was the referee in the last qualifying round of the 2013 Afcon qualifier between Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire which ended abruptly in Dakar.
He was the fourth official when Ghana lost the 2013 Afcon semifinal to Burkina Faso on penalties after drawing 1-1 in regulation and extra-time.
Bouchaib was also the referee when Ghana walloped Egypt 6-1 at the Kumasi sports stadium during the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying round.
The Moroccan referee has issued 32 yellow cards and 1 red card in his last 9 official CAF matches.
He will be assisted on the lines by fellow countrymen Redouane Achik and Mouhib Abdallah.
The Ghana Football Association is yet to officially announce a date for the fixture, but sportscrusader.com can confirm that the first leg of the double-header will be on 24rd March and the second leg will be on 27 of the same month.
The game will be played at the Accra sports stadium.
