SAYA Conference 2016 - "Digging Deeper Conference 2016"

SAYA Conference 2016_2

At the Singles and Young Adults Conference meeting yesterday inside the Trinity Baptist Church, Oasis House, Madina New Road, lots of youth trooped in to hear and learn from great minds like Mrs Herbetta Quansah and Elder Amos Kevin-Annan on the topic “Understanding The Purpose of Sex” as part of the five days conference dubbed “Digging Deeper Conference 2016” which started on the 9th of March, 2016 and ends today, the 13th of March,

Issues like “the origination of sex” and “is sex for procreation or recreation?” were addressed at the meeting.

Elder Amos spoke on the fact that the “evolutionist” would say “sex is evolved with human beings”.

“But for those that believe in the creation story as written in bible, we know that all things were created by God”, said Elder Amos.

He made mentioned that activities engaged in by human beings were created in God’s image and likeness. Concluding that if God created us then whatever activity we are undertaking right now to enhance procreation originated from God.

He said, however, that there are variants that have emerged that has been the creation of man.

He stated that the concept of sex brings together our natural disposition, which is how God created us and the culture in which we find ourselves. He pointed out that there is for instance, sex which is given to say “thank you”, called appreciative sex and sex out of the norm, which is any sex that is between heterosexuals. He stated, “this act of sex is a deviant construct”. And there is also sex which is engaged in for the fun of it, that is, casual sex.

Mrs. Quansah, touched on the question, “Is sex for procreation or recreation?” She started by saying God said we should multiply and replenish the earth.

And in “multiplication we can it relate to sex, the works of our hands and many other things”-Mrs. Herbettah Quansah.

Underlining the fact that Jesus Christ was the only one birthed under the power of the Holy Spirit. But we as human beings are birthed through procreation. This is God’s perfect design. That a man may know a woman sexually and out of that a child would be conceived.

She however, stated that sex is also for recreation but emphatically pointing out that though the program is about sex, the youth are not being encouraged to have sex without first of all being legally married.

“It is recreational for the married”, she said.

Jokingly saying to the youth, “Don’t say there is light off and there’s nothing doing so we are going to have sex”.

For the married couple it is part of bonding. It is for procreation and for recreation.

Elder Amos also spoke a bit on “sex as a recreation”. Stating that the first foundation has to be in order, that is, marital consummation. Which is a form of covenant. That one of the seals of the covenant is sex. With the ideal situation being that if an individual had preserved themselves there would be an evidence of the covenant formed during the act. Making mention the fact that it is rather quite unfortunate that many of us would not have come into Christ in that pure state, “virginity”.

Stating however, that when you are in Jesus according to;

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)- Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

you come into a newness of state, spiritually speaking. In that newness when you form a new covenant, that is, the union with your spouse who is your covenant companion according to;

Malachi 2:14 (NIV)-  You ask, “Why?” It is because the Lord is the witness between you and the wife of your youth. You have been unfaithful to her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.

We form a covenant when we get sexually engaged.
