Kofi Poku, Vice Chairman of the MTN FA cup committee has mentioned in an interview with Sportscrusader.com that sponsors want litigation free competitions in the Ghanaian game.
The 2015/16 Ghana Premier League is five weeks old and still has no headline sponsor and adds up to the mounting list of premier league seasons without a sponsor.
The MTN FA Cup competition has been absent for almost a decade but it’s resurrection five season’s ago, has seen a meteoric rise in the image of the event which has had the same headline sponsor since.
Mr Poku said, many have asked how easy or difficult it’s been for the FA Cup Committee to sustain the sponsorship of the event.
The soft-spoken Poku admitted it was a difficult task finding a headline sponsor but the secret he revealed is because, the FA cup is litigation free.
He said, “it’s not easy with sponsorship deals for us (MTN FA Committee) but the competition is all but litigation free and the calendar is duly followed, and, this is what sponsors like to be associated with”.
