Tom Strand Threatens To Quit

Head coach of Ghana Premier League (GPL) side Medeama SC, Tom Strand says he will quit, if the club’s management or the technical director continue to interferes in his coaching duties.

Strand coaching responsibilities were taken over by Technical Director of the club, Evans Addotey in the Mauve and Yellows GPL away game against Asante Kotoko in the second half.

“What happened last Sunday is not the way i work. I don’t think any club want to work that way so I hope it will not happen again. And we tried to look ahead and see what we can do.

“If I go back to Sweden or if I get offer that looks attractive and it is a nice challenge I would love to take it and see what I can do with it.” Strand told Kasapa FM.

However Evans Addotey explained the reason for his action saying, “I am the technical director and I have every right to take decisions. He decided not to stand at the technical area so I chose myself to take over”.

“The reason being that he wanted to effect a substitution that the technical bench was not in agreement with. So coming all the way from the dressing room after recess we didn’t see him so I decided to take over.

“When he came, I confronted him and he said he wasn’t happy, he wanted to make a change and we refused. ” He revealed.

The former Bechem United  coach was unhappy with the attitude of the technical director and has hinted that he will resign if the club’s management or the technical director interferes in his job.

Tom Strand is expected to be in the club’s dugout in their weekend’s CAF confederation Cup battle against Libyan giants Al Ittihad in the first leg tie of the prelims which will be played in Tunisia.
