PFAG pledges Support to 2016 Vodafone Unity Games

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has pledged it’s support to the 2016 Vodafone Unity Games.

The Vodafone Unity Game forms part of former Black Stars Skipper, Stephen Appiah’s plans to promote Peace and Unity among Ghanaians before, during and after the 2016 General election.

Speaking at the a Press Soiree organised by Primeval Media-the Organizers of the Unity Games, Augustine Arhunful, a former Ghanaian International and a member of the PFAG stated the players welfare body is fully in support of the initiative.

“It is not the first time Unity Games or a Peace Match will take place in Ghana. Before the 2012 election, there was one organized in Tamale by the NCCE. But unfortunately we could not play the one in Accra”, he recalled.

“And so I am here on behalf of the PFAG to pledge our support to this event, because we strong believe that football brings all of us together”, Arhunful added.

Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah will lead a team of current and former international football stars in a two legged tie in June this year in the Vodafone Unity Games.

The first will be in Kumasi Against Asante Kotoko on June 8 with the second fixture in Accra on June 11 against the Black Stars.

Some of the players that will be involved in the 2016 Vodafone Unity Games include former Arsenal defender Sol Campbell, Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke as well as ex Dutch international and Barcelona star Patrick Kluyvert.
