GN Bank DOL: Club Threatens To Pull Out After 10-Match Ban

GN Bank Division One League side, Bibiani Gold Stars has threatened to pull out of the Ghana second tier competition after the Ghana Football Association (GFA), handed them a 10-match home ban and a 15,000 cedis fine for crowd troubles.

The action of the GFA was prompted following the Bibiani based side’s attack on players and officials of Elmina Sharks as well as match officials during a Zone Two Week 3 encounter- an incident which left several Sharks players injured with some hospitalized.

Following the incidence, the disciplinary committee of the Ghana FA imposed a 10-match home ban on Gold Stars and reacting to the reacting to the decision, Chief Executive Officer of the club, Mr. Kwesi Adu expressed his displeasure at the decision stating that his side doesn’t deserve the punishment.

“Why? Have We killed any person in Bibiani to deserve a 10-game ban. What happened to even Premier League teams that have beaten Referees in the past” he said.

“If people have interest in destroying Gold Stars, we are ready. We are miners. We mine gold, we don’t play football. We just have to pull out for those who want to play to continue playing” Mr. Adu added.

The 2015/2016 GN Bank Division One League has been marred with continues act of violence which has prompted the official Broadcast partner to temporarily suspend the coverage of the league.
