University of Ghana Are The New UPAC Champions

University of Ghana ended the reign of Accra Polytechnic in the University,Polytechnic and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship after defeating the defending Champions 45-44 in the finals of this year’s edition of the competition.


Accra Polytechnic fought fiercely but the reining Champions University of Ghana showed why they where touted as favorites having thumped Accra Polytechnic by 46-38 when the two sides met at the Group stages.


University of Ghana kept their composure in the game as the ended the second quarter still with a comfortable lead.


Accra Polytechnic’s Shooting guard Gabriel Numar shot his side into the lead with a wonderful three pointer and two free throws to take the score to 44-42 with some few seconds remaining on the clock.







The moment of glory came for the University of Ghana when shooting guard Emmanuel Wolf scored a three pointer to end the game 45-44 in favor of the home team.


University of Ghana head coach Meme Falconer was named the coach of the tournament with Muhaimin Guba emerging as the most Valuable player of the competition with his outstanding display for his side winning a brand new mobile phone from MTN


University of Ghana received GHC 3,000 plus souvenirs from sponsors whilst second place Accra Polytechnic also taking away GHC 1,500 plus souvenirs from sponsors Rexona, Cal Bank, MTN and Fanyogo.


Last year’s finalist Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) also defeated Takoradi Polytechnic to pick the third place.
