Ghana Badminton Wins Four Medals In Mauritius

The National Badminton team on Sunday 14th February, won a total of four medals in the Rose Hill Series in Mauritius, held over the weekend in Mauritius.


 


Ghana won one  silver and three medals in the mixed doubles finals played with a pair of Emmanuel Donkor/Gifty Mensah took the silver medal after a narrow lost the Mauritius Pair – Edoo/Lousison.


In the Men’s doubles event, Michael Opoku-Baah/Abraham Ayittey won bronze, Daniel Sam/Stella Amasah won bronze in the mixed doubles event, while Gifty Mensah/Stella Amasah also picked up bronze in the women’s doubles.


The team currently based in Sudan is looking very promising in their quest for the World Men and Women team Championships finals in China in May.


Ghana is represented by 9 players and a coach; the Male team – Daniel Sam, Michael Sam, Emmanuel Donkor, Abraham Ayittey and Michael Opoku-Baah; the female team – Diana Archer, Stella Amasah, Gifty Mensah and Grace Annabell Atipaka and the team coach is Godwill Ntarmah.


Reports from Sudan indicate the team readiness for the Thomas and Uber Cup which kicks starts tomorrow 16th February 2016
