Lawrence Lartey Tips Former Side To Skip Bejaia In CAF CL

Former Ashgold centre back Lawrence Lartey has tipped the Obuasi based side to beat Algerian side OM Bejaia when the two sides clash in the second leg of the Confederation of Afria Football (CAF) Champions league.


Ashgold kicks off their CAF Champions league campaign with a scary home fixture against OM Bejaia with an patchy pre-season form to show but their former defender has backed them to see off the Algiers in a commanding home win.


Lartey played a starring role for Bashiru Hayford side en route to the ultimate trophy before heading to South Africa for a lucrative deal with PSL side Ajax Cape Town.


The 22 year old confided in the team work and character of the Miners ahead of the Bejaia clash on February 14.


The nostalgic Lartey sent a good will message to his former colleaguew and urged them to produce a five star performances that will put them in pole position ahead of the return leg in two weeks time.


“I am praying that Ashgold get a very good results in the second leg, which will enhance their chances of progressing into the next stage of the CAF Champions league.


“I am wishing them the best luck ahead of the second leg”. Lartey told sports crusader.


Lawrence Lartey earned the best defender of the 2014/15 FCPPL season for his technical awareness and tactical ingenuity at the back of the Miners triumphant season on the domestic scene.


The composed centre back passed on several chances for a switch to a domestic rival before joining the exodus bus to the PSL in South Africa with Ajax Cape Town in the off season.


He has since enjoyed five straight starting XI with the South African side.
