We"re Not Afraid of New Sports Minister- GFA

Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Ibrahim Saanie Daara, has stated that the FA are not frightened by the appointment of Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuije as the new Ghana Sports Minister-designate.

The government of Ghana last month appointed Mr. Vanderpuije as the Sports Minister pending approval by the Parliamentary appointment committee.

Several media speculations suggested that there were fears among the rank and file of the FA that the Kwesi Nyantakyi-led administration will come under proper scrutiny and likely to see a total overhaul of processes.

But Daara believes the Odododiodio constituency Member of Parliament is not going to launch a witch hunt against the GFA.

“Absolutely no fear, the Ghana FA is a very clean and fair organization, why will somebody make us (GFA) their target? We don’t have such fears at all and will just wait and we don’t think Nii Lantey will come after us,” he told Starr FM in Accra.

“Whatever it is, he will need the success of football for his tenure to be written in gold”, he added.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nii Lantey Vanderpuije is scheduled to meet the GFA officially in the coming days.
