I ditched Hearts because AshGold showed more interest, Alfred Nelson reveals

Defender Alfred Nelson says he chose to join AshantiGold due to the club’s persistence in convincing him into making the move.

The 23-year-old has signed a two-year contract to join the Miners.

Nelson arrives from Liberty Professionals where he is to be the substantive replacement for Lawrence Lartey who has departed to join Ajax Cape Town.

The tough-tackling defender was however also being pursued by Hearts of Oak.

Nelson decided against joining the Phobians who are based in Accra to travel up north to sign for AshGold.

He now revealed the persistence of the Ghana Premier League champions is what convinced him into making the move.

“They [Hearts of Oak] did what they could but AshGold were pressing more,” he said.

“I was supposed to have even arrived here last week but I was considering other things and now here I am.”
