Agbozume United Replaces Home Stars In MTN FA Cup

The Disciplinary Committee (DC) has expelled Home Stars for fielding unqualified players in their MTN FA Cup Preliminary Round match against Agbozume United in accordance with the General Regulations of the GFA.







Agbozume United Football Club (the Petitioner) on March 15, 2016 filed a protest against Home Stars Football Club (the Respondent) for failing to produce players licenses for inspection before the commencement of the match.


They also protested against Home Stars for using a strip that was not written on the team sheet nor presented to the match officials, and, for failing to present its registered strips at the pre-match technical meeting, all in contravention of Articles, 16(5)(a), 16(5)(b),17(4), 34(1)(i) and 34(1)(j) of the General Regulations of the GFA.


The DC ruling stated that Agbozume United FC shall advance to the next stage of the competition on a 3-0 score line.


It stated that Home Stars FC shall be considered as having lost the match in accordance with Article 34(2) of the GFA General Regulations and accordingly, three (3) goals are hereby awarded in favour of Agbozume United FC.


In addition, for being the defaulting club, the DC’s ruling said, Home Stars FC is hereby fined an amount of Two Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GH¢250.00) (being a Division Two Club) payable to the GFA, 50% of which shall be paid by the GFA to Agbozume United FC in pursuant to Article 34(5)(b) of the General Regulations of the GFA.
