A Project Team from club sponsors, MTN, inspected the state of affairs at the multi-purpose complex being built by Kotoko at the Adako-Jachie training field near Kumasi.
With the MTN team were Senior Project Manager, Transmission Implementation, Jerry Nyamekye; Northern Sector Manager, Mobile Money Implementation, Stephen Asare; Project Manager-Facilities, Majemite Oladejo, and Regional Marketing Manager, Salomey Darko Bruku.
They were accompanied to site by General Manager, Opoku Nti; Operations Manager, George Kennedy and Communications team member, Solomon Ofosuware. The team was there to assess the status of the structure and further ascertain how best MTN could ensure its completion as soon as possible.
The telecommunications giants and Kotoko held a brief discussion after the inspection. It was agreed that, the club would furnish MTN with detailed information on the project. Stephen Asare told Asantekotokosc.com that, “There are a lot of engagements that we need to do with Kotoko and the consultant contracted for the project. We need a lot of information around the project before we take a decision on when to start”.
The project was started in 2012 under the erstwhile Dr. K. K. Sarpong administration. The Owner and Life Patron of Kotoko, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in January this year met MTN officials and asked them to help complete the project.
Stephen Asante said the visit to site was a follow up to that meeting and the first step to getting the project completed. He was not emphatic when works would begin. Their visit, he however added was a sign of their commitment seeing to its completion.
George Kennedy disclosed management will meet consultant to seek the project details. He said MTN were willing to continue with the funding but did not want to by-pass the consultant for a different one.
