Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye Want Managers of Ghana"s Sports Facilities Outsourced

As part of his vision to ensure that Sports Facilities in Ghana are properly maintained at all time, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye has suggested that managers of the facilities should be outsourced instead of being appointed.

According to the Minister, that will be the only way good accountability can be demanded from those in charge of the facilities.

Speaking to the media following his visit to the Western and Central Regions to inspect the Regions’ sporting facilities, Mr. Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye noted that if the management of the respective sporting facility are outsourced, they can help generate enough resources to manage sports in Ghana.

“I visited the Accra Sports Stadium and I must admit it is in the best of conditions. What I will say is that a lot more work should be done” The Member of Parliament for the Odododioodoo said.

“I have already made my vision statement clear on this. I think that it is time we outsource the management of our facilities so that we demand from those people who will be managing it, good accountability.

“By so doing, they can also make these facilities generate enough resources for the management of our teams and to support the activities of the National Sports Authority”, Nii Lantey Vanderpuiye added.

The former local government Minister also promised that he is going to make sure that all of Ghana’s sports facilities are put to use.

“Some of our sports facilities are lying idle. Why should it be so?” he questioned.

“So I believe seriously that if we can put all our stadia to good use such that people will be coming there all the time and activities will be taking place all the time, we are going to generate revenue and i am going to ensure that, it is done” he concluded.
