Michael Osei Shocked Jackson Is Injured

Assistant Kotoko coach Michael Osei says he still can’t believe that midfielder Jackson Owusu will be ruled out of the 2016 Ghana Premier League season after fracturing his tibia during a Sunday Special game at Maakro.

The former Berekum Chelsea midfielder sustained the injury at the Magazine Maakro Park while training with his colleagues and had to be carried to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Kotoko technical team and fans alike see Jackson Owusu as the team’s kingpin at the middle of the pitch after an impressive debut season with the Porcupine Warriors.

And Michael Osei, who won the MTN FA Cup two years ago when he stepped in for his boss Didi Dramani, and this year’s GHALCA top six invitational tournament in Sekondi when David Duncan was in Libya with second part of team, says he is shocked the the midfielder is injured.

“I am still shocked because we are just less than a week to start the new season and this happens,” Osei told Starr FM

“We gave them two days off for them to visit their families and return to training on Monday and as I speak to you I am still trying to come to terms with the situation.” he revealed.

Jackson Owusu played 26 out of the 30 premier league matches last season and he is one of the 29 players registered by the club for the 2016 season which will start on Saturday.

The player will undergo surgery today at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
