Ahmed Relieved After Opening Scoring Accounts In Ethiopia

Ghanaian midfielder Gabriel Ahmed is confident of scoring more goals in the Ethiopian top flight league after opening his season account at home to Adama City.


The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) attacking midfielder waited 14 matches for his debut strikes of the campaign but remained hopeful of building on his debut strikes.


The 26 year old former Inter Allies midfielder pocketed two goals in the five goal thriller to power CBE past their much fancied second place Adama City.


The attacking midfielder, who played a starring role for Dedebit FC in their 2013 title winning season switched camp to CBE in Jully last year and has since played every single league fixture for his mid table side in Ethiopia.


The former Inter Allies midfielder, who passed on the chance to switch nationality for the Ethiopia national openly, expressed his excitement after ending his long wait for a goal in CBE colours.


“I am very relieved now as a player. It has been great feeling scoring my first goal for CBE and most importantly winning the match for my side over the division’s second placed team.


With these opening strikes of the season, I am sure of getting more before the season ends. Even though I am a midfielder I have been scoring goals in my previus season but had to wait this long for my first goal of the season”, Gabreil told sports crusader.


The former Inter Allies and Sekondi XI Wise midfielder then confirmed been approached for a nationality switch but passed on the opportunity.


“They offered me the chance to switch nationality and play for their national team but their conditions were not Ok for me and I passed the opportunity on.


“They wanted me to forfeit my Ghanaian passport for an Ethiopian passports since you cannot have more than one passport in the country.” Gabriel concluded.
