Head Coach of Dreams FC, Charles Kwabena Akunnor wants fans and management of clubs to lower their expectations to avoid putting pressure on coaches.
The new Ghana Premier League season will be three weeks old this weekend, but many coaches are already under pressure to turn things around or face the sack.
And the former Black Stars skipper has made a passionate appeal to clubs in the competition to be patient with their coaches as the league progresses.
Coach Akunnor is surprised after two matches, some coaches were under intense pressure to the extent that Coach Nurudeen Amadu had to resign from his position as Aduana Stars boss, and Coach Joseph Emmanuel Sarpong of Ebusua Dwarfs FC is reported to be on his way out.
“I am a bit surprised about how coaches are being put under pressure from management and supporters to resign. I think coaches need to be supported by their management because it is early days yet,” the former Hearts of Oak coach told GNA.
Akunnor believes the success of his club was due to the open relationship between the playing body and the technical team as well as management.
Dreams FC will travel to Tema for match week three of the GPL season to play Inter Allies at the Tema sports stadium on Sunday. They’ve won two of their previous premier league games and are currently third on the GPL log.
