UW Regional U15 Ready For Opening Match

The Upper West(UW) Regional U15 football team, has intensified training ahead of their debut game at home to their Northern regional counterparts.

The newly-assembled youth side upped their training programmes at the Wa Sports stadium annex with one eye on the weekend’s clash against their Tamale-based visitors.

A trip to the training grounds saw the excited young footballers fine-tuning the game plans for the inaugural fixtures in the newly created National Under 15 league.

Star forward for the Upper West representatives, Salifu Abdallah “Bobilah”, remains optimistic of his side’s chances in the opening matches of the season.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better platform to market ourselves than this league.

“It will give us the chance to tell Ghanaians what we can do as footballers in our youthful ages.

“The main objective here is not about winning alone, but telling the organisers what they have been missing all along.

“I thank the organisers on behalf of my colleagues and urge all football fans in the region to throw their weight behind us when we host Northern region on Saturday”, Abdallah told Sports Crusader.

The Ghana Football Association, in consultation with the football family, officially launched the inaugural national U15 football league to be played in two zones.

The three northern regions are joined by Brong Ahafo and Ashanti region in zone one whiles Greater Accra leads the remaining regions with two teams in the competition.

The Upper West Regional team is being handled by Ahmed Polo and Iddrisu Polibu.
