U17 World Cup: Japan Will Be Tough But - Ghana Coach

Ghana coach, Evans Adotey has tipped their Japanese counterparts to be a very tough opponent but has his priority set on avoiding defeat in tommorrow’s 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup opener.

Japan are the defending champions of the tournament, but the Black Maidens would seek to cause an upset when the two heavyweights lock horns at the Prince Mohammed Stadium in Al Zarqa, Jordan.

Coach Adotey highlighted how crucial the first match would be to their survival in the tournament.

At the pre-match press conference organized by FIFA at the match venue, he said: “I respect Japan a lot. Of course they are defending champions, but my aim in this match will be to avoid defeat through any means available.

“Perhaps, winning my first two matches or staying out of defeat could help us secure a second round spot which is very paramount.”

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 16:00pm local time (1:00pm GMT).
