Ghana Captain Wins UAE Super Cup With Al Ahli

Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan, landed himself the United Arab Emirates Super Cup after winning the trophy with his Ahli colleagues.

The nomadic forward made a cameo appearance for the Dubai-based side in a hard earned 2-1 win over Aljazeera in the domestic Super Cup.

The former Sunderland and Al Ain hitman joined Al Ahli on a season-long loan deal from Chinese Super League side, Shanghai SIPG after falling down the pecking order at SIPG.

The Ghanaian hitman came on in the last 3 minutes for the reigning cup holders for only his second appearance for the club.

An own goal from Mohamed Fawzi and a late penalty from Rodriguez Lima canceled out Thiago Neves’ neat finish for Aljazeera.

Asamoah opened his scoring account for Ahli in his debut game after joining from Shanghai at the start of the season.
