Team Manager (TM) Nii Sabahn Quaye has called for a positive impact from the club fans as the team heads into the last three games of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) season.
Accra Hearts of Oak will play back-to-back home games against Ebusua Dwarfs on Sunday and Medeama SC next Wednesday with the final game of the season at Bekwai against New Edubiase United to close the season.
And Sabahn Quaye says the fans’ contributions would be crucial towards the success or otherwise of the team as they still retain hopes of winning the title at the end of the campaign.
Hearts trail the leaders Wa All Stars by six points heading into this weekend’s round of games and will need to win their remaining games to stand in with a chance of lifting the diadem.
“We need to be seeing more from the fans as it is their duty to support the team at all times whether in difficult or happy moments” Sabahn Quaye told the club’s official newspaper, the Hearts News.
“In good or bad times, as fans our role is to support the team to make the best of every situation. No matter how difficult every situation might be, if we stand as a united force and preach discipline and commitment among ourselves I know our players will always feel our positive impact expected of us. We must only be seen supporting the club as was seen years ago because that is the only means by which our club retain to rule Ghana and African football. We must understand that it was in absolute peace that the club was able to win the Champions League, Confederations Cup and Super Cup and the many league titles”.
The Hearts TM believes the role of the fans will be important in trying to achieve the needed results that could propel the team to success.
“This used to be the situation in the team in the past where the contribution of the fans in our games turned the results in our favour even when the odds were not in our favour’ he added.
“Therefore, they must come out and be seen to be playing a part in our games with their strong support. I am confident that the fans can provide us with perfect support and the boys will rise to the challenge to produce the results that we all crave for. Hearts is a peaceful institution so if we can do our best to rally behind the team, there is no way Hearts will not survive. Our leaders have invested so much into the club in terms of both resources and time and so if we can appreciate that and give them support I don’t see why Hearts will not move up. For every team to be successful the fans must play a good role so I am charging all to stay together as a great force and defend the image of the club at all times. There is only one Hearts of Oak and that is what we all believe in so our efforts to promote this club must be seen”.
With this, Sabahn Quaye believes the club will be in a better position to fight and challenge for honours on a consistent basis.
He lauded the efforts of the fans throughout the season, but is demanding for more not only in this close season, but the campaign hereafter going into the next season.
