Ghana’s female hockey team, Black Sticks, have beaten their counterparts from Nigeria 2-0 in the first match of the 2016 World Hockey League round 1 played at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra.
The competition which begun on Friday, will see four countries which includes Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and Namibia seeking qualification to the second round of the competition
The Black sticks showed the class as they comfortable edged past their rivals to set off on a bright note in the competition.
Ghana Forwards, Nafistu Umaru and Benedicta Adjei got the goals for Ghana.
The Black Sticks next game will be against 38 ranked side kenya which will be one of the toughest match in the group
The three day tourney is proudly sponsored by Vodafone Ghana.
