Ghana Boxer To Fight Kazakhstani For World Title

Ghana’s Patrick Allotey (36-2, 28 KOs), will on October 29, take on Kanat Islam (21-0,18KOs) in Kazakhstan in the World Boxing Authority (WBA) Interim Jr Middleweight Championship.


The 25-year-old, currently ranked 13th, will seek to improve upon his ranking and possibly inch closer to the world title being held by Jack Culcay of Germany.


In his last bout, Allottey knocked down Sani Yidana Kugblie at the Seconds Out Boxing Gymnasium in Accra, which put him in pole position to fight for the Junior Championship


Islam, on the other hand, ranked fourth, will also use the opportunity to enhance his ranking in anticipation of an opportunity to take a shot at the world title.


The fight will be staged by Nelson Promotions and Zherzu Company in Almaty, Kazakhstan.


The Ghanaian is scheduled to depart Ghana by October 15 for Kazakhstan to fine-tune preparations for the fight.
