Manchester United youngster Tyler Reid has joined Swansea City for an undisclosed fee, the club has confirmed.
The 18-year-old right-back has signed a three-year contract at the Liberty Stadium and has indicated that he believes his first-team opportunities will be greater with the Welsh club.
The Luton-born starlet was originally on Arsenal’s books, but made the move to Old Trafford in August 2012.
Reid was out of contract this summer at United, so the fee involved is effectively compensation due to his age.
He said: “I am really looking forward to a fresh challenge and getting started. I see a good opportunity to play first-team football with the Development squad here.
“I can’t wait to get started. I want to make my mark, secure a starting place for the Development squad, and help make an impact this season.”
Reid was on the scoresheet for United’s under-21 side in a 1-0 win over Sunderland last season. But he was restricted to just one start at that level and was more of a regular at under-18 level and for the club’s under-19 team in their Uefa Youth League campaign.
