Isaac Dogboe to Defend Title on August 26

WBO Africa featherweight titlist Isaac “Royal Storm” Dogboe (14-0, 9 KO’s) will meet WBO Oriental featherweight champion Neil John Tabanao (13-1, 9 KO’s) from the Philipinnes on August 26th at the Police Officer’s Social and Fitness Centre in Accra.

The upcoming match-up, promoted by Aborigines Beach Resort Promotions in collaboration with Rising Stars Africa Promotions, has been dubbed as “Africa vs Asia.”

“We were mandated by the WBO to face Tabanao and after that fight we will fight two more eliminator fights, but our focus is to the take the fight one after the other.”

“From day one, we have set a mission and that is to win the world title and we are on course for that.”

“Boxing is all about determination and discipline and Isaac has that. Isaac is always in the gym and he is ready for the August showdown because it is a must win fight.”

With regard to a scheduled fight between his son and Sergio Puente on August 5th in California, Paul Dogboe stated, “That fight is off. We were billed to fight Eden Sonsona on that date but, like I said, the WBO mandated us to face Tabanao so that scheduled fight with Puente must be change and we are working on that.

Dogboe defended his title last month, stopping Uganda’s Edward “The Chain Man” Kakembo in sixth round at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Tabanao is also coming off a victory, KO’ing Australia’s Ibrahim Balla in three to win the vacant WBO Oriental featherweight title last month at the Bendigo Stadium in Victoria, Australia.
